Energy Tips

LIGHTING

Always clean the fluorescent tubes. Dirt and dust could lower its illumination by 50%. If possible, use CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamps). CFL utilizes 70-80% less energy than incandescent equivalents.

REFRIGERATOR/FREEZER

When shopping for refrigerator or freezer, consider a unit with high Energy Efficiency Factor (EEF). High EEF means more efficient motor and consumes less electricity. Always keep the refrigerator/freezer door gasket clean and in good condition. Regularly defrost and dont let ice build-up of frost more than ¼ inches thick.

IRONING CLOTHES

Do all ironing at one time either once or twice a week. Iron heavy clothes first and lighter ones last. Do your ironing during off-peak hours before 9am and after 9 pm and unplug iron shortly before ironing last piece.

WATCHING TELEVISION (TV)

Turn-off and unplug your television when nobody is watching especially when using a transformer. Never let your tv in standby mode for it will consume additional consumption of electricity. Always remember that using 2 or more tv sets at the same time multiplies the entertainment cost of electrical consumption.

AIRCON

Always check and clean or replace the air filter every month. Install air-conditioning unit to the cooler part of the room. Turn off unused appliances that give off heat inside the air-conditioned room when not in used.
